How to Do Mermaid Nails with Chameleon Gel in 5 Steps

One shimmer coat over any base color shifts as the light moves. Here is the order that shows it off.

1. 1

   Prep and base

   File, buff and wipe the nail clean. Dehydrate with pH Bond, then brush on a thin coat of base coat and cure.

   TipCap the free edge as you go.

2. 2

   Choose your base color

   Mermaid Chameleon Gel is transparent, so the color under it matters. Apply two thin coats of your base color and cure each one. Black or white shows the full range of the shimmer.

   TipTry the same shade on a black nail and a white nail to compare.

3. 3

   Brush on the chameleon

   Apply one thin coat of Mermaid Chameleon Gel over the cured color. The gel tints the base and adds the shimmer.

   TipKeep the coat thin and even.

4. 4

   Cure and check the light

   Cure under your LED lamp, then tilt the nail in the light to watch the shimmer move. Results vary from the product photo, because the base color changes the look.

   TipAdd a second thin coat only if the first looks too light.

5. 5

   Seal and finish

   Seal with a no wipe top coat and cure. Finish with cuticle oil.

   TipA no wipe top coat means no scrubbing across the shimmer.
