A French manicure is a pink or nude nail with a white smile line. The brush and the amount of gel on it do most of the work.

The routine
-
Before you start
Prep
File and shape the nails, buff the shine off, push back the cuticle and wipe away dust. Dehydrate with pH Bond.
-
Base
Base coat
Brush on a thin coat of base coat and cure.
-
Color
Pink or nude layer
Apply one or two thin coats of a French Collection pink or nude, such as P11 Neutral Nude, and cure each coat.
-
Smile line
Paint the tip
Load a French brush with a white such as W02 Cold White. The brush is shaped to follow the nail's curve. Sweep the tip from sidewall to sidewall in one stroke.
-
Tidy
Fix the line and cure
Use a clean, thin brush to tidy the smile line before curing, then cure.
-
Repeat
Add a second white if needed
If the white looks thin, add one more thin coat to the tip and cure again.
-
Finish
Top coat and oil
Seal with a no wipe top coat and cure. Finish with cuticle oil.
Two variations
Milky French
Use Milky White Gel for a soft, translucent tip. It is a creamy milky white made for soft French tips and gentle fades.
Color tip
Swap the white for any gel color and paint the tip the same way. A black tip pairs well with a nude base for a bold look.
